Barnsley’s beloved Cannon Hall Farm is once again in the spotlight, with its popular TV series long-listed for the prestigious TV Choice Magazine Awards in the Best Factual category. The farm is the official host of the On The Farm series, which includes favourites like Springtime on the Farm and Winter on the Farm. These shows, presented by Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson, have captured the hearts of viewers across the nation.
This year, Cannon Hall Farm faces tough competition from industry heavyweights, including Jeremy Clarkson’s farming show, 24 Hours in Police Custody, and Dragon’s Den. However, the Barnsley-based farm is no stranger to success, having taken home the award in both 2022 and 2023, with farmer Robert Nicholson and his family experiencing what he described as a “pinch-yourself moment” on stage.
Robert Nicholson expressed his gratitude, saying, “We have been fortunate enough to share our family farm on TV for a number of years now, and it is something we never, ever take for granted. We’re only able to do this because people show they want to see Cannon Hall Farm on their tellies. Every vote truly counts, and it makes a huge difference.”
He added, “We’d be incredibly proud to keep putting our home town on the map – so we’d love it if people could help bring us home once more.”

The TV Choice Magazine Awards celebrate the nation’s favourite TV shows and personalities, and winners are chosen entirely by public vote. Voting for this year’s awards is open until 15th October, giving fans the opportunity to support Cannon Hall Farm once again. To cast your vote, visit tvchoicemagazine.co.uk/vote.
Cannon Hall Farm has not only gained millions of viewers on TV but also on social media, where fans follow their farming life in Barnsley. With a loyal following and a string of successes under their belt, could 2024 be another winning year for this much-loved family farm? Time will tell, but the Nicholsons are certainly hoping to take the prize home for the third year running.
