The White Rose Shopping Centre has unveiled its expanded outdoor play area in The Village, offering even more space and exciting new features for families to enjoy. The redesigned area, open this month, caters to a wide range of ages and abilities, with a large canopy ensuring fun for children rain or shine.
The new additions to the play area were chosen based on feedback from guests and are designed to develop both mental and physical skills. Highlights include:
- A theatre and music play house with xylophone and drum panels, encouraging children to engage in explorative play and social cooperation, while the climbable structure helps develop motor skills.
- A farmyard-themed tractor slide, complete with a tunnel and slide, inspiring imaginative play and building communication skills, alongside physical benefits like improved coordination and balance.
- A wobble bridge, featuring suspended logs, designed to boost children’s confidence and balance.
- Balance bumps, part of an activity trail that hones gross motor skills and decision-making abilities.
- A hopscotch area, promoting social interaction and friendly competition.
As part of Leeds City Council’s Clean Air Leeds initiative, the play area and The Village are entirely smoke-free, ensuring a healthy environment for families.
Ashleigh Kellett, Deputy Centre Director at White Rose, said, “Our play area has become a much-loved part of the centre for families since it was opened in 2018. The space was originally designed with input from our guests, so we’re pleased to unveil these additions that we know they’ll enjoy. We’re looking forward to seeing many more smiling faces in The Village for years to come.”
With over 120 shops, a wide variety of restaurants, and nearly 5,000 free parking spaces, White Rose Shopping Centre is the perfect destination for a family day out. The centre is open from 10am – 9pm Monday to Friday, 9am – 8pm on Saturdays, and 11am – 5pm on Sundays.
