The countdown to a North Yorkshire hotel’s three-day music and beer festival has begun, with the first pint due to be pulled at 5pm this Friday. (June 21)

For 19 years, the White Bear Hotel in Masham has staged the family-orientated event boasting some of the best cask ales in the country.

And, in addition to live music provided by top local bands and solo artists, the event – which attracts thousands of people from across the North of England – will conclude with a charity quiz on the Sunday evening in support of the Kaleidoscope Plus Group and The Sick Children’s Trust.

Sue Thomas, General Manager of the White Bear Hotel, said: “With just a few days until our annual music and beer festival starts, we are currently hard at work putting the finishing touches to what promises to be another fantastic weekend.

“For real ale lovers, we have an outstanding collection of 30 beers, ales, lagers and ciders from a wide range of breweries. And, because the White Bear is owned by T&R Theakston Ltd, its collection of iconic ales will be out in force.

“Our kitchen team will be creating plenty of different foods to accompany the beverages, and for the music devotees we have an impressive line-up of artists, many local, commencing at Friday teatime.”

Sue added: “Last year there was a new addition to the programme, a charity quiz in the White Bear on the Sunday evening, which raised a significant amount of money.

“And because it proved so popular, we are including it this year. Once again the proceeds are going to health and wellbeing charity, the Kaleidoscope Plus Group, and The Sick Children’s Trust.

“Over the last five years, The Kaleidoscope Plus Group have been providing suicide prevention services and services in the Midlands for those bereaved by suicide. They are now hoping to launch a similar service in North Yorkshire, which, following a number of recent incidents in the dales, is very much needed.

“The Sick Children’s Trust help to provide accommodation for families with sick children in hospital in the UK, and have been doing valuable work since their establishment in 1982.”

The entertainment line up is as follows:

Friday:

Goldsands 6pm-8pm

The Collective 9pm-11pm

Saturday:

Randez Manouche 3pm-5pm

Roundel 6pm-8pm

Citizen Smith 9pm-11pm

Sunday Lunchtime:

1.30pm-3pm Traditional Jazz
