ITV star, model, stylist to the stars and the most famous legs in Yorkshire, Sheffield’s Nicki Donohoe is to host a new weekly Saturday afternoon radio show Off the peg! The show will be broadcast on Barrelhouse Radio on Saturday 28th November at 2 pm. Her two-hour show will see Nicki spinning classic old school funk, indie, soul and disco across the whole of Yorkshire, Derbyshire and the rest of the world!
Nicki has one of most recognisable faces, pairs of hands and legs in Yorkshire. Fans of ITV‘s Emmerdale will recognise Nicki’s long and slender legs from the opening credits as she was cast as the ‘legs that run up the stairs’ – the clip has been used for many years on the hit soap.
Nicki starred on Series 3 of ITV’s Take Me Out with Paddy Mcguinness, lasting throughout the show’s entire run – in her own words she was glad she “didn’t get a date” as she’s “too picky”. Nicki also starred on and won ITV’s Big Audition, viewers watched as the busy mum-of-two from the Ecclesfield district of Sheffield was told to apply lipstick and sunglasses to a model, whilst stood behind so only her hands were in the frame. She later went on to beat her rivals, bagging the job as the ‘hands’ of major UK brand Barry M cosmetics.
Unbeknown to many, Nicki is not only one of the most famous pairs of legs in the UK but also one of the most famous pairs of hands too. As a hand model, she has worked with some of the UK’s iconic brands starring as ‘hands’ in adverts including Febreeze, Quorn and Aldi. It doesn’t stop there, as a face model Nicki has featured in many national TV adverts for numerous prestigious brands including Jaguar Land Rover and DFS.
Nicki has spent many years behind the camera as a much sort-after stylist and make-up artist for Asda, Boots, Adidas, Kellogs and Sainsbury’s. Recently she worked on hit Netflix production The Circle and Channel 4’s This is England(she even had a bit part thanks to the Director Shane Meadows). Recently Nicki was the makeup artist and stylist on Paul Weller’s video Gravity.

Nicki’s big passion is music and this new venture into DJing for Barrelhouse Radio is a dream come true, she commented:
“I adore music, so when I was approached to be a resident DJ on a new and upcoming radio station I jumped at the chance. I’ve been a guest on BBC Radio Sheffield a few times so I’ve picked up a few tricks of the trade.
Those who know me would probably describe me as a talker and music lover so this is perfect for me! My show will have an eclectic mix of music but mainly bits of Soul, Disco, Indie, old school RNB, 60s/70s/80s, you name it. There will be something for everyone, I love undiscovered Northern soul and b sides to vinyl and I’ve lost many a weekend just listening to B sides of records.
I want to bring that joy to like-minded people out there. I’ll also be sharing some cheeky secrets of my time in front and behind the camera, some of which I will have to withhold names but they’re definitely worth listening to!”
