After the UK’s embarrassing result at last year’s Eurovision competition, BBC bosses decided to work with record label BMG to choose this year’s entry, rather than putting it to a public vote.
The UK has seen some success in the competition over the years but last year saw us take the bottom spot for the fouth time since the competition began.
Our Eurovision 2020 entry will be performed by the very talented James Newman – a multi-platinum selling, Brit award winning and Grammy nominated singer and songwriter from Yorkshire.
James, who is from Settle and is the older brother of John Newman, is already a successful recording artist and has written for stars such as Ed Sheeran and Jess Glynne. This May, he will perform the UK’s Eurovision entry “My Last Breath” on the stage in Rotterdam.

What do you think? Do you think we stand a better chance of taking the top spot with James representing us? Will this be our first Eurovision win since Katrina and The Waves?
