Leeds food lovers are in for a fiery treat on Tuesday 30th September, as Wasabi brings its Flaming Korean Fire Chicken firetruck to Briggate (LS1 6HF) from 12pm. The event marks the launch of the UK sushi and bento chain’s spiciest creation yet, now available in restaurants and supermarkets nationwide.
Visitors will have the chance to grab one of 500 free bowls of Flaming Korean Fire Chicken with rice, test their spice limits with the interactive Hot or Not button, and enjoy games, music, and plenty of photo opportunities. Briggate will be transformed into a hotspot for spice enthusiasts looking for fun and flavour.
The dish features tender red-flamed chicken coated in Wasabi’s signature fire sauce, served with red peppers, crisp Asian slaw, and fluffy rice. It is designed for those who enjoy a serious kick.
Henry Birts, Chief Executive Officer at Wasabi, said: “Our Flaming Korean Fire Chicken is our spiciest creation yet, packed with heat and flavour that’s fun to try. The firetruck tour is a great way for fans to get a taste, take on the challenge, and enjoy a little fiery fun with friends.”

Wasabi was founded over 20 years ago by Mr Kim, a chef who, after working across Asia, spotted an opportunity to bring high-quality sushi and flavourful hot bento to the UK. Starting with a small stall in London’s Camden Market, he built Wasabi on a passion for authentic ingredients and bold, East Asian-inspired flavours. Today, the chain serves up East Asian food in restaurants and through its growing range of ready meals for home, work, or on the go.
The Flaming Korean Fire Chicken is already heating up Wasabi restaurants and is also available on supermarket shelves across Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Co-op, and Tesco. Whether enjoying it in-restaurant or as a take-home meal, the firetruck tour offers a chance to join in the launch celebrations.
Foodies in Leeds should not miss the opportunity to grab a free bowl, take the Hot or Not challenge, and share their reactions. Follow @wasabiuk on social media for more details.
