Yorkshire-based Martin House Children’s Hospice has been named Charity of the Year at the 11th annual National Charity Today Awards 2025.
The hospice was recognised for its outstanding impact, innovation, and commitment to sustainability, as well as its transformative £21.9 million project to extend and refurbish its facilities. The judges praised Martin House for its measurable and lasting contribution to children’s hospice care in the UK.
Lee Rayment, founder of the National Charity Today Awards, said: “Martin House Children’s Hospice represents the very best of the UK charity sector. Its unwavering commitment to supporting children and families through the most difficult of times is truly inspiring. This award reflects the incredible compassion, professionalism and dedication shown by everyone involved with the hospice. They should be immensely proud of the difference they make every single day.”
Clair Holdsworth, chief executive of Martin House, said: “Winning UK Charity of the Year is a huge achievement and a reflection of years of hard work, resilience and determination across our team. We are focused on building a hospice for generations to come, continuing to deliver expert, compassionate care with excellence, integrity and respect at our core. I couldn’t be prouder of every person at Martin House.”

Martin House provides specialist paediatric palliative care to children and young people with complex, life-shortening conditions across West, North and East Yorkshire. The hospice supports more than 550 families each year, delivering round-the-clock care from its multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and therapists.
The award comes as Martin House enters the final phase of its ambitious redevelopment project, designed to meet the growing and increasingly complex needs of the families it supports.
Robyn Mountain-Wade, director of income generation at Martin House, said: “Being named Charity of the Year is a testament to the passion, dedication and hard work of everyone here. This has been a year of major transformation for the hospice, and throughout it all, our team has continued to provide vital care for children and young people. Their commitment has inspired incredible support from individuals, businesses and community groups across Yorkshire and beyond.”
