Leeds To Become A Giant Trivial Pursuit Board Game This Summer

Following the massive success of the MONOPOLY takeover last year, Leeds is preparing to transform into a giant, interactive board game once again this summer. To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the city’s royal charter, LeedsBID has partnered with Hasbro to bring TRIVIAL PURSUIT to the streets.

From 25th July to 30th August 2026, the city centre will become a live version of the classic game. Visitors and residents are invited to test their knowledge on everything from the origins of Marks & Spencer to the city’s connection to the invention of carbonated water.

The free experience will feature key locations representing the six traditional categories, which include Geography, Entertainment, History, Art and Literature, Science and Nature, and Sports and Leisure. One of the main hubs for the event will be the spectacular Brodrick Hall inside Leeds City Museum.

Just like the real board game, players will journey across the city answering questions to collect the famous coloured wedges. There will be both classic and junior questions available to make sure the challenge is accessible for all ages. Once participants have secured all six wedges, they will face a final “game-winning” question to complete the experience.

Andrew Cooper, Chief Executive of LeedsBID, explained that the event is designed to put Leeds on the map while sharing the unique stories of the city. He said:

“TRIVIAL PURSUIT Leeds is about celebrating everything about this great city, from those headline facts and figures people know to the lesser-known surprising details and discoveries. LeedsBID’s raison d’etre is to put Leeds on the map and tell the stories and successes of the city. Trivial Pursuit Leeds is doing just that, providing a free, fun and entertaining activity for all ages while sharing new and interesting achievements of this amazing place.”

The takeover will highlight famous Leeds names such as Melanie Brown, Peter O’Toole, and sporting legend Beryl Burton. It aims to turn local history into a social and shareable activity for the thousands of people expected to visit the city centre during the summer holidays.

Full details and maps for the trail will be released closer to the launch date on the official Trivial Pursuit Leeds social media channels.
