Independent Indian restaurant group tamatanga is celebrating its 18th anniversary on Wednesday 21st October, marking nearly two decades since launching its first venue in Nottingham.
Founded by CEO Aman Kular in 2008, the business has grown into a major success story, now employing 200 people across 4 city-centre locations in Nottingham, Birmingham, Leicester, and Leeds.
The group is also advancing firm plans to expand into the North West as it enters its 19th year of business.

Known for its fresh Indian home cooking, vibrant interiors, and informal atmosphere, tamatanga prepares all its food fresh daily and even grinds its own spice blends in-house. Some supplier partnerships date right back to the original 2008 launch, while a Warwickshire dairy farm produces bespoke dairy items specifically to the group’s recipes.
In response to customer demand, the group has also recently resumed accepting cash payments across all its venues after diners asked for the option to be brought back.

“When we opened in Nottingham, we wanted to serve real Indian food in a place with energy and personality, where people could walk in and feel at home,” said Aman Kular. “Eighteen years on, we still have to earn our customers’ loyalty every day. Our teams put so much into the restaurants, and our guests have supported us through every stage. This birthday is our chance to say thank you.”
To mark the 18th birthday milestone, registered tamatanga loyalty app users ordering a main dish at any location between Wednesday 21st October and Sunday 25th October 2026 can claim a free first drink from a selected range of cocktails, mocktails, and soft drinks.
Full menu details, restaurant locations, and loyalty app downloads can be found online at tamatanga.com.
