Leeds-based TrainingToolz celebrates after getting an award from Theo Paphitis
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A Leeds-based business has received a Twitter boost from retail entrepreneur Theo Paphitis.

Online training experts TrainingToolz tweeted Theo about their business during ‘Small Business Sunday’ and was one of six weekly winners to gain a retweet by Theo to his near half a million Twitter followers. The weekly initiative, set up by Theo in 2010, now has over 3,000 #SBS winners and supports small businesses in the UK.

Theo, a business and retail entrepreneur and self-confessed shopkeeper, re‐tweeted TrainingToolz’ message and, as a result, TrainingToolz.com has over 150 more followers and extra interest in their services. They are also profiled on the #SBS website (www.theopaphitissbs.com) that is exclusive to all Small Business Sunday winners.

TrainingToolz Chief Strategy Officer, Kirsty Collinson, said: “We couldn’t believe it when we checked our Twitter notifications and saw hundreds of messages of congratulations, plus a retweet from Theo himself. It’s so hard for small businesses without huge marketing budgets to raise their profile, so it’s great to have support and recognition from Theo. It’s opened up a world of opportunities that we can’t wait to explore.”

Team member Vicky Kangurs represented TrainingToolz at the recent SBS winners’ networking event at the ICC in Birmingham. Vicky said: “I expected the day to be good, but it far exceeded my expectations. There were so many opportunities to network with small business owners from all walks of life, and the speakers were incredibly generous with sharing their knowledge and answering questions.

“I would encourage anyone considering entering SBS to go for it. Only a small percentage of entrants are chosen each week so, if you don’t get selected, don’t give up – keep trying like we did!”

Small business champion and Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue Chairman, Theo Paphitis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen. I wish TrainingToolz every success.”

TrainingToolz provides all the support and technology an education provider, charity or organisation needs to create, share, monitor and evidence online training. Courses are accessible anytime using any device with an internet connection and can include pre-recorded video, audio, interactive questions and downloads. Candidates can download a certificate on completion as proof of their new skills.

The vastly experienced TrainingToolz team, headed up by Kirsty Collinson and CTO Ian Pringle, offer personal support for the duration of a subscription, working with clients to achieve their training goals. They also have a library of professionally written, fully customisable compliance training materials and policies available.

Subscriptions are flexible and a discount is offered to small charities and start-up businesses.

Anyone looking for a re‐tweet from Theo should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5pm and 7.30pm and include the hashtag #SBS. Six lucky businesses are re‐tweeted every Monday at 8pm and then invited to enter their profile on the new website, attend the annual #SBS networking event and take advantage of the networking opportunities.
