Pie lovers across Yorkshire are in for a treat this spring as Marston’s teams up with Michelin-starred chef Tom Shepherd to bring The Best Ever Pub Pie to local pubs for a limited time only.
For the first time ever, Tom Shepherd is sharing his secret pie recipe with the public, allowing diners to enjoy a brand new take on one of the nation’s favourite comfort dishes. Inspired by the award-winning chef’s showstopping banquet main course, the pie will be available in more than 100 Marston’s pubs nationwide—including 12 right here in Yorkshire—from 17 April for just 12 weeks.
In Yorkshire, you’ll find the pie on the menu at local favourites such as The Florentine in Fulwood, Sheffield, The Mustard Pot in Leeds and The Curious Cow of Harrogate. Each venue is serving up the pie as part of their seasonal menu, giving diners a unique chance to try a dish that combines classic pub tradition with fine dining flair.
The Best Ever Pub Pie lives up to its name with three indulgent layers of flavour. It’s packed with hand-pulled beef cheek, caramelised onions and roast potatoes, all wrapped in a rich beef fat shortcrust pastry. It’s served alongside seasonal vegetables, creamy mashed potato and a red wine sauce to finish the dish off in style.
Tom Shepherd, known for his Michelin-starred Staffordshire restaurant Upstairs by Tom Shepherd and his winning appearance on Great British Menu in 2023, has worked closely with the Marston’s development team to recreate the look and flavour of his original dish. The result is a proper pub classic with a banquet-worthy twist.
The collaboration marks a first for the chef, who has kept the recipe under wraps until now. Marston’s customers are the first to get a taste, and it’s already generating excitement from food fans across the region.
