One of the UK’s most cherished and highly anticipated restaurant groups, Dishoom, has officially confirmed its opening timeline for Leeds this August. To celebrate its arrival in West Yorkshire, the team is partnering with beloved local independent institution Doh’hut to launch a strictly limited-edition doughnut special.
Available from Monday, 13th July for two weeks only (running until 26th July), Leeds locals will be able to get a distinct taste of Dishoom’s famous house Chai before the restaurant officially welcomes its first diners on Vicar Lane.
Known for championing the distinct culinary neighbourhoods it joins, Dishoom chose to partner with Doh’hut to highlight one of the city’s most successful independent food stories. Born and bred in Leeds, Doh’hut has built a fierce, devoted following by ensuring every single product remains completely handmade, freshly fried, and generously packed with premium ingredients.

The collaborative creation is a warm, spice-laden luxury built around Dishoom’s closely guarded house Chai recipe. The chai-sugared doughnut comes heavily filled with a silky, chai-infused crème pâtissière, capped off with a decadent chocolate truffle featuring a hidden ginger chai caramel centre. A final scattering of crushed pistachios provides a rich, nutty texture to create a perfectly balanced pastry.
The exclusive launch serves as a preview for Dishoom’s beautiful new cafe located inside the historic building on Vicar Lane.
The restaurant will open for an exclusive soft launch phase starting on Monday, 3rd August, during which guests can enjoy a massive 50% off their total food bill. The site will officially celebrate its grand opening on Friday, 14th August.
Serving up its iconic Bombay-inspired comfort food from morning breakfast through to late-night dinners, the menu features legendary favourites such as the Bacon Naan Roll, Chicken Ruby, House Black Daal, and Pistachio Kulfi. True to the brand’s roots, walk-ins are highly encouraged throughout the day, with a large portion of the floor space held back daily for spontaneous dining. For those who prefer security, online reservations will open up shortly for breakfast and lunch sittings, alongside a very limited number of evening dinner slots.
Kavi Thakrar, co-founder (affectionately known as the Head Babu) at Dishoom, spoke warmly of the partnership: “We always want to champion the local community in every city we open a café, and for our new opening in the city of Leeds, collaborating with Doh’hut, such a beloved brand by the city, felt like a joyful opportunity to share our house Chai with Leeds before opening.”
Tom Stafford, the founder of Doh’hut, added: “As a city, we’ve been patiently waiting for Dishoom to come to Leeds. It’s such an honour for us to collaborate and create this bespoke doughnut, which showcases one of the distinct and special flavours, Dishoom’s house Chai, ahead of opening. I hope Leeds enjoys the limited-edition doughnut as a preview of what Dishoom will have to offer our city.”
The exclusive Chai doughnut will retail at £4.75 and will be sold from 13th–26th July exclusively at Doh’hut, located at 2 Trevelyan Square, Leeds (LS1 6ED).
