If you’re a chocolate lover in York, you’re in for a treat! The Principal York, soon to be known as The Milner York, has just launched a range of expertly crafted chocolate cocktails to complement their already famous chocolate-themed Afternoon Tea. Nestled in the grandeur of the hotel’s Garden Room, this new addition promises to elevate your afternoon indulgence to a whole new level.
York’s deep-rooted chocolate heritage has long been celebrated, and The Principal York’s Chocolate Afternoon Tea has been a favourite among locals and visitors alike. This summer, the hotel introduces four unique signature chocolate cocktails: the ‘Mocha’, the ‘Minty’, the ‘Tangy’, and the ‘Tropic’.
The ‘Mocha’ blends vanilla vodka and coffee liqueur for a sophisticated treat, while the ‘Tangy’ offers a tantalising mix of orange-flavoured liqueur and crème de cacao. For those who prefer a refreshing twist, the ‘Minty’ combines vodka with crème de menthe and white crème de cacao. And for a non-alcoholic delight, the ‘Tropic’ brings a coconut taste sensation to the table.
But that’s not all – The Principal York’s Chocolate Afternoon Tea is a chocolate lover’s dream. Indulge in a selection of cakes, brownies, and macaroons, all inspired by York’s famous chocolatiers. The highlight is undoubtedly the “Big One” – a golden brioche crumb choux bun filled with hazelnut cream and caramel, perfect for sharing. Savoury treats are also on offer, including delicious cheese and onion tartlets and classic finger sandwiches filled with the finest local ingredients like salmon, eggs, ham, and cheese from Yorkshire suppliers. And, of course, no afternoon tea is complete without freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and preserves.
Afternoon Tea at The Principal York is served daily from 12 noon until 4 pm, starting at £29 per person. For those looking to add a touch of sparkle, Prosecco is available for £34 per person. For the ultimate indulgence, enjoy Champagne or the new Signature Chocolate Cocktails for £40 per person.
