This Yorkshire Day, a Japanese favourite in Leeds is serving up something completely different. Maki & Ramen, located on Bond Street, is marking the occasion with a limited-edition menu available throughout August, bringing together local classics and bold Japanese flavours in a celebration of culinary creativity.
Running from 1 to 31 August, the special dishes are designed to honour Yorkshire’s proud food traditions while introducing diners to the vibrant world of Japanese cuisine. From a Sunday Roast Ramen to a Sushi Butty with a splash of Henderson’s Relish, the menu promises something familiar, yet refreshingly new.

Executive chef Sophie Wang, who has been with Maki & Ramen for over four years, crafted the menu with both care and imagination. Trained under founder Teddy Lee, Sophie approaches food as art, focusing on fresh ingredients, visual flair and harmony of flavour.
“This fusion is all about celebrating the best of both worlds,” she said. “We wanted to honour Yorkshire’s rich food culture while offering something new that feels exciting and still comfortingly local.”

Menu highlights include:
- Iced Yorkshire Tea Matcha – A chilled blend of Yorkshire’s beloved brew with matcha, topped with a Yorkshire Rose stencil
- Sunday Roast Ramen – Sous vide chicken, roast potatoes, rich gravy broth and a Yorkshire pudding for dipping
- Ee By Cod – Cod wrapped in crispy rice noodles, deep-fried and served with vinegar mayo and mushy edamame
- Yorkshire Three Peaks – A trio of meat and tatie pie with a Japanese twist, charred veg, and a sweet blueberry onigiri
- Sushi Butty – Crispy beef sushi sandwich with Wensleydale sauce and Henderson’s Relish dip
- Builder’s Crème Brew-lay – Yorkshire Parkin matcha with Yorkshire Tea marbled custard, topped like a classic brûlée
