Diners in the Selby area are in for a treat as a new Restaurant Week is set to debut across Selby, Tadcaster, and Sherburn-in-Elmet from 21st to 27th October. The campaign aims to support North Yorkshire’s hospitality sector by encouraging visitors to discover new dining experiences through special set-price menus offered by participating restaurants.
This initiative, which has already been successfully staged in Harrogate, is overseen by Visit North Yorkshire, the destination marketing and management service run by North Yorkshire Council. The campaign offers restaurants, cafes, and tearooms a chance to increase footfall, attract new customers, and create repeat business during what is typically a quieter time of year.
Cllr Mark Crane, North Yorkshire Council’s executive member for open to business, said:
“We’re thrilled to launch Restaurant Week for the Selby, Tadcaster, and Sherburn-in-Elmet area. North Yorkshire is well known for its excellent food and drink, and we want to showcase the best of what the area has to offer.
“Restaurant Week is a popular initiative across UK destinations, and we have already seen success with three Restaurant Weeks taking place in the Harrogate area. The week of offers is held during what is normally a quieter time of the year to encourage footfall into our hospitality businesses. I’d encourage the restaurants, cafes and tearooms from across the Selby area to get involved.”
Participating businesses can showcase their culinary offerings by creating special fixed-price menus for visitors who quote the offer during Restaurant Week. Diners will have the opportunity to try new places, explore fresh menus, and even sample dishes they’ve never experienced before.
Graham Usher, managing director of The Drovers Arms Restaurant and Country Pub in Skipwith, welcomed the campaign, saying:
“We are delighted to be taking part and supporting the first Restaurant Week in Selby and the surrounding area. There is such an amazing choice of restaurants and eateries in the local vicinity, and this is a great opportunity to bring them all together and showcase for a week to local residents what is available on their doorstep.
“At The Drovers Arms, we will be showcasing the wonderful produce that is available to us locally with a great value fixed price menu for lunch and dinner.”
Restaurant and hospitality businesses from Selby, Tadcaster, and Sherburn-in-Elmet are encouraged to sign up for the campaign and can do so via the official website, www.exploreheartofyorkshire.co.uk/RW24. Businesses without a listing on the Heart of Yorkshire website will have one created after registering.
This new initiative not only promises to boost local business but also offers residents and visitors a chance to explore the rich culinary landscape of North Yorkshire.
