Independent Yorkshire brewery T&R Theakston is expanding its range with the on-trade launch of Peculier IPA, a bold addition to its legendary ‘Peculier’ family of beers.
First brewed by head brewer Mark Slater, the IPA was created to honour the 200-year-old brewery’s iconic Old Peculier. After making its debut in shops in 2023, Peculier IPA quickly gained traction with listings in major retailers including Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Co-Op and Booths.
It has already made its mark in the brewing world, picking up the award for Best Strong Pale Ale/Bitter at The Great Exhibition of Prize Ales 2024. Now, the beer is heading to pubs across the UK.
Brewed with 100% British ingredients, Peculier IPA reflects the history of the traditional Indian Pale Ale. These beers were originally made strong and hoppy to withstand long journeys from Britain to India. Theakston’s version stays true to those roots while giving it a modern British twist.
At 5.1% ABV, the beer combines British malted barley with three English-grown new world hops: Harlequin, Jester and Olicana. The result is a zesty and full-bodied pint, finishing with a distinct hop-forward character.
