As wine and ice cream quickly become this summer’s most talked-about food duo, wine expert and influencer Sophia Longhi (@skinandpulp) has joined the conversation with a fresh twist on a classic dessert.
Taking inspiration from the Italian affogato, traditionally made with coffee, Sophia swaps in wine for a unique, refreshing take. Her wine affogato recipe, created using Asda products starting from £2.18, is already catching the attention of food lovers on social media.
In a video shared with her Instagram followers, Sophia shows how to build the dessert using a scoop of Asda’s Really Creamy Raspberry Pavlova Ice Cream and a splash of the award-winning Asda Extra Special Côtes de Provence Notre-Dame des Anges. The wine, currently reduced from £12.98 to £9.98, adds a light, fruity tang that balances the sweetness of the ice cream.

Sophia describes the combo as “kind of like the taste of a sorbet. But better, because it’s creamy and boozy.” For those keen to try it, her instructions are simple: “One generous scoop of Really Creamy Raspberry Pavlova Ice Cream. Pour over around 50ml of ASDA Extra Special Côtes de Provence Notre-Dame des Anges. Top with mixed berries. Easy peasy!”
It’s not just rosé and raspberry that work well together. Sophia also suggests a few more pairings to experiment with:
- ASDA Extra Special Cru Du Beaujolais Fleurie with Really Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream
- ASDA Extra Special Barbera d’Asti with Really Creamy Triple Chocolate Ice Cream
- ASDA Extra Special Pinot Noir with Really Creamy Raspberry Pavlova Ice Cream
Asda has seen a 63% rise in ice cream sales and a 97% increase in rosé searches in the last week of April alone, suggesting the trend is only picking up speed.
For anyone looking to cool down with something a little different this summer, Sophia’s wine affogato might just be the answer.
