York Distillery is inviting the public behind the scenes this summer to see how its award-winning gins are made. The boutique distillery, based in the centre of York, will open on Friday 1 August as part of National Distillery Day, which also happens to be Yorkshire Day.
The team will offer live demonstrations throughout the day, showing how their distillers select and blend ingredients to create their well-known range of spirits.
Director Natalie Hall said: “We’re thrilled to have been invited to join the National Distillery Day celebrations along with some of the country’s leading craft distilleries. It’s the perfect opportunity to invite people to see our beautiful new distillery in the heart of the city. And we’re keen to show people how distilling actually works – to demystify the processes and inspire people.”
The distillery will be open to ticket holders from 11am to 6pm. Tickets cost £5 and include a York Gin & Tonic or another drink from the bar. They’re available now at yorkdistillery.co.uk/dd.
Alongside the demonstrations, there will be free tasters and a chance to chat with the distillery team about their full gin range, tasting and making experiences, cocktail masterclasses and private event bookings.
The bar will also be open all day, offering a relaxed space for visitors to enjoy a drink and explore one of the city’s newest hidden gems.
