York Gin Old Tom Featured on ITV’s Love Your Weekend

York Gin’s partnership with North Yorkshire’s Michelin-starred Star Inn has taken centre stage on national television after its award-winning Old Tom gin featured on ITV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh.

The gin appeared during the programme’s Gin Masterclass, where drinks expert Andy Clarke introduced it to Alan Titchmarsh and guests Amanda Redman and Kelvin Fletcher. The panel were quick to praise the spirit, with Titchmarsh calling it “delicious” and Redman describing it as “gorgeous”.

Clarke spoke highly of York Gin’s sustainable approach to distilling, commenting, “The edge of sweetness is beautiful. It’s a really great example.” Fletcher agreed, saying it was his favourite of the gins featured and complimenting the elegant bottle design.

York Gin Old Tom has long been recognised for its quality, earning 98 out of 99 points at the International Wine & Spirits Competition and being hailed by experts as one of the world’s best gins.

York Gin Director Natalie Hall said: “We’re thrilled to see our beautiful Old Tom gin being given the praise it deserves on national TV. The sugar syrup developed by Andrew Pern at his Michelin-starred Star Inn, Harome, is just superb. And it’s brilliant that the Star Inn The City make it for us. It’s a truly York and Yorkshire collaboration.

“The gin has been winning gold medals and plaudits from experts for years, so it’s gratifying to see it getting national attention. We may be asking The Star Inn The City to increase their production in light of this attention!”

The feature also highlighted the historic ties between York, gin and cats. Cats have long been a symbol of the city, which even has its own Cat Trail of statues across York’s buildings. They have also been linked to gin since the 18th century, often appearing on labels, including York Gin’s distinctive design.
