Huckleberry’s American Diner
Malton Road, York YO60 7SG
Huckleberry’s American Diner opened in 2014 and was the UK’s very first Man vs Food diner. Alongside an extensive menu of burgers, hotdogs, steaks, ribs and more, Huckleberry’s offers diners the chance to be featured on the ‘Wall of Fame’ by completing epic food challenges. Many diners attempt to consume these mammoth portions of American-inspired deliciousness but few make it onto the wall and instead find themselves on the ‘Wall of Shame’.
Size really does matter at this incredibly popular American diner in Yorkshire and Huckleberry’s has a big personality to match its gigantic portions of food. If you were blessed with an enormous appetite, eat your way through a 5ft Chilli Dog in under 60 minutes or a 5lb tower of burgers within 30 minutes to win a personalised winners t-shirt and a voucher for the value of your chosen challenge.
If eating challenges aren’t for you, a visit to this vibrant eatery on the outskirts of York is still a must! The fun atmosphere alone makes for a memorable meal out and there are numerous standard-size dishes on offer that will satisfy those calorie cravings. The PBJ Burger (beef burger topped with cheese, bacon, peanut butter and jelly) sounds a little eccentric but is meant to be insanely good and made it to the finals of the National Burger Awards. For us, however, it would have to be a starter of Crispy Corndogs followed by the Texan Chicken – crispy coated chicken breast with mash, corn, onion rings and chicken gravy. Yummy!
The Fabulous 50s Diner
15A Bower Road, Harrogate HG1 1BE
The Fabulous 50s Diner in Harrogate is open from 10 am every day except Tuesday and serves all the tasty treats most commonly associated with American diners as well as a few Mexican favourites like fajitas and nachos.
Kids and adults alike will adore the retro decor and fun vibes at this independent American diner in Yorkshire. It has been styled to look exactly how one would expect an American diner during the 1950s to look so a visit here really is like stepping back in time to the days of Rock n Roll!
Breakfast is served at The Fabulous 50s Diner until midday and there are some truly scrumptious-sounding dishes on offer to kickstart your day in the most delicious of ways. Options include Breakfast Quesadilla, Corned Beef Hash, Breakfast Pizza and more.

Ed’s Easy Diner
Unit 204. McArthur Glen Designer Outlet, St Nicholas Ave, Fulford, York YO19 4TA
Unlike the others on our list, Ed’s Easy Diner in York is part of a chain but as the brand only has one venue in the county, we thought it worth a mention, especially as it’s located in one of Yorkshire’s major shopping outlets.
Ed’s Easy Diner at McArthur Glen Designer Outlet oozes roadside diner vibes with its colourful decor and jukebox tunes. It doesn’t have the most extensive of menus and but all the favourites like burgers, hotdogs, pork ribs and thick shakes are on offer plus kids can eat for just £3.99.
Pop in after indulging in a spot of retail therapy and enjoy Chicken Tenders or a 1/2 Rack of Ribs then bite into a juicy hotdog topped with streaky bacon, crispy onions, diced onion, cheese sauce and BBQ sauce. If you still have room for dessert, there are six sweet treats to choose from including a warm waffle served with vanilla ice cream and Oreo crumb then drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauces. Yes, please!
Whilst this isn’t one we’d suggest booking for a special occasion or epic foodie experience, it’s worth considering if planning a trip to McArthur Glen.
Jem’s Pit Stop
Brookroyd Mills, 678 Bradford Rd, Batley WF17 8ND
Open daily from 9 am, Jem’s Pit Stop is a characterful American diner in Yorkshire. You’ll find this absolute gem of a dining venue at Jem’s Speed Shop, which is also home to one of the best motorcycle showrooms in the UK.
The atmospheric diner is adorned with automotive memorabilia and offers visitors a unique and interesting dining experience as there are two VW campers which have been converted into funky dining spaces.
Apparently, the breakfasts at Jem’s Pit Stop are both enormous and delicious so it’s worth a visit for those alone. However, this quirky eatery also serves a mouthwatering menu of American classics like hotdogs, burgers, fried chicken, T-bone steaks. Po Bo sandwiches, pancake stacks, waffles and much more! If you’re up for it, this American diner in Yorkshire offers an eating challenge in the form of a yard-long hotdog with fries that must be consumed within 90 minutes. Whatever you choose to order, we recommend adding a side of Jem’s cheese sauce in which to dip your burger, dawg or chicken tenders!
