Local homebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire West helped Ossett residents celebrate the Platinum Jubilee by sponsoring the Illingworth Park Jubilee Gala which took place this weekend in Illingworth Park.
Friends of Illingworth Park held its annual Park Gala on Sunday 5th of June, to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee which saw the country celebrate her 70th year on the throne.
Illingworth Park played host to local food and drink vendors, live music performances, craft stalls and fairground rides that gave local residents a day to remember. With Barratt Homes’ Lockwood Fields development a short distance away, the homebuilder provided the Friends of Illingworth Park with the financial support to print the banners advertising the event, as well as funds to cover the cost of a free gift for children.
Formed in 2009, the Friends of Illingworth Park aim to promote the safe use and upkeep of the park for the local community by fundraising and hosting events throughout the year. So far the group has installed a catalogue of new facilities, including a children’s playground, a 5-a-side goal post, wild flower gardens, picnic benches and a storage facility.
The sponsorship from Barratt Developments Yorkshire West comes as part of its commitment to support the communities in which it builds and to improve the lives of those living in the area close to its developments.

Without support from organisations like this we could not put on events like ours.”
