Bradford will step into the global tech spotlight on 21st November as it hosts the Bradford Quantum Hackathon at Bradford Live, a one-day event celebrating innovation, creativity and the city’s heritage as a birthplace of industry.
The hackathon, hosted by the University of Bradford, Quantinuum and Aqora, will welcome around 200 researchers, students and innovators from across the UK and beyond. Together, they will explore how quantum computing can tackle real-world challenges in healthcare, energy, transport and AI.

Part of the United Nations International Year of Quantum and supported by Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, the event is open to everyone, not just those with tech experience. Participants will work in teams with expert mentors to turn big ideas into practical solutions.
Rajeeb Hazra, Chief Executive of Quantinuum, said: “The future of quantum computing will be shaped by the diversity of people who can access and apply this revolutionary technology.”
Shanaz Gulzar, Creative Director of Bradford 2025, added: “The theme ‘Where Quantum Meets Culture’ is perfect for Bradford. Just as the textile mills once powered an industrial revolution, this event could help power the next one, the Quantum Age.”
A £25,000 prize pool and industry mentorship await the winners, with judges drawn from the UK quantum sector, the NHS and the UN International Year of Quantum.
Teams and individuals can still register at quantumbradford2025.com.
