North Yorkshire’s very own Dalby Forest has been named one of the most scenic running routes in Britain.
A new survey of 2,000 UK runners, commissioned by the Postcode Lottery, placed Dalby Forest’s 10km trail firmly in the nation’s top ten most scenic runs. The North Yorkshire beauty spot earned widespread praise from the running community for its peaceful woodland trails that wind through dense pine forests and rolling countryside.
The study highlights a growing trend of runners ditching the gym treadmill in search of fresh air, memorable landscapes, and Instagram-worthy views. However, the research also revealed the social pressures of modern fitness, showing that 49% of runners feel pressure to make their workouts look impressive online, and 61% regularly compare their activity against others on fitness apps.
The findings were released to celebrate the launch of Crowns for Causes, a new Strava challenge by the Postcode Lottery that launches today (Monday, 8th June). Supported by TV presenter and ambassador Davina McCall, the initiative aims to unlock £5 million for vital charities, including Mind and Cancer Research UK, simply by tracking everyday summer workouts on the app.
Postcode Lottery Ambassador Davina McCall said:
“What I love about Crowns for Causes is that it meets you exactly where you are. Whether you’re running 5KM or 50KM, your everyday activity can now unlock real money for charities that genuinely change lives… Lace up, get out there, and let’s make every mile count for something more.”
