Famous Leeds Faces Join Forces with LeedsBID for City-Wide TRIVIAL PURSUIT Experience

If you fancy testing your local knowledge while hunting down epic prizes, the streets of Leeds are about to become your ultimate playground.

This summer, LeedsBID (Leeds Business Improvement District) is bringing Hasbro’s iconic board game to life, transforming the entire city centre into a live, interactive version of TRIVIAL PURSUIT. Running from 25th July to 30th August 2026, the completely free experience is being launched to celebrate a momentous milestone: 400 years since Leeds was first granted its royal charter.

The city-wide game will send players on a journey across key central locations, each representing one of the six traditional TRIVIAL PURSUIT categories: Entertainment, Geography, Sports & Leisure, Science & Nature, History, and Art & Literature. At each stop, pop-up mini-exhibitions will celebrate fascinating facts about the city – from the Leeds origins of Marks & Spencer and the invention of carbonated water, to the legacies of local icons like Melanie Brown, Peter O’Toole, and Beryl Burton.

To win, players need to journey around the city centre, answer one question per category to collect all six iconic wedges, and then head to the spectacular Brodrick Hall inside Leeds City Museum for a final showdown question.

A host of famous Leeds faces are appearing digitally throughout the game to ask a special “Question for Today” and share notable stories. The star-studded lineup includes Leeds-born presenter and podcaster Alex Zane (taking on Entertainment), historian Ruth Goodman (History), and commentator Daniel Norcross (Sports & Leisure).

Reflecting on his involvement, Alex Zane said: “It was a real privilege to return to my home city to tell the story of Roundhay Park’s musical heritage, from Madonna to Robbie Williams and Lewis Capaldi, on what is a momentous 400-year anniversary for Leeds this summer.”

Other national and local icons making virtual appearances include actors Angela Griffin, Jeremy Dyson, and Bob Cryer, broadcaster John Craven, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, and Ryder Cup European team captain Luke Donald.

Loiner and actress Angela Griffin added: “LeedsBID have come up with a fun and engaging way to introduce visitors to the Leeds story through Trivial Pursuit, and I was happy to play a part in some of this trivia this summer, which is a real honour as a Loiner.”

The stakes are high for those taking part. One lucky player will be drawn every single day to win a £500 Hays Travel voucher. Plus, everyone who successfully collects all six wedges and beats the final museum question will be entered into a weekly draw to win major prize bundles from top local venues, including Everyman Cinema, Trinity Leeds, Funstation, Tenpin, Leeds Playhouse, and Blu Sakura.

The event features both classic and junior questions to appeal to all ages, and if you drop by over the weekends, you’ll even spot live roaming helpers named ‘Trivia Newton-John’ and ‘Quiz Pine’ keeping the energy moving.

Sara Merritt, Principal Keeper at Leeds City Museum, said: “Leeds City Museum is excited to host TRIVIAL PURSUIT as part of Leeds400 this summer, offering visitors a fun and interactive way to celebrate knowledge, curiosity, and everything that makes Leeds unique.”
