Father Christmas, Festive Crafts and Free Entertainment: Details of Shipley Christmas Lights Switch-On Announced

Shipley is getting into the festive spirit with the announcement of the annual Christmas Lights Switch-On event taking place on Saturday 25th November.

To celebrate the lighting up of the town’s festive lights and large Christmas tree, a day of free entertainment for visitors and residents will take place between 10.00am – 4.45pm

Funded by Shipley Town Council, highlights of the event include music performers taking to the stage in the market square, along with a panto show performed by Shipley based Q20 Events.

Father Christmas and craft activities will be available in the Underground Market, and face painting, balloon modelling and a Nativity puppet show taking place in Shipley Library.

The outdoor market will also include a range of additional stalls including crafts, and artisan foods.

There will also be four light installations around the town centre as part of the ‘BD is LIT’ festival.

The festive lights will be switched on at 4.45pm.

Cllr Mike Farren, the Chair of Shipley Town Council’s Community Engagement Committee said:

“The festive lights switch-on event is always a popular date in the calendar for the local community, attracting many visitors into Shipley. With lots of free activities for the family to enjoy, and entertainment throughout the town centre, we look forward to a great day celebrating the countdown to Christmas.”
