A Free Meal For Every Visitor at Popular Leeds Street Food Restaurant

Indian street food restaurant, Rola Wala, will be offering Leeds locals a free meal ahead of World Hunger Day in a bid to support the local community during difficult financial times.

Anyone visiting the iconic restaurant in Trinity Kitchen between 12pm and 3pm on Tuesday 23rd May can treat themselves to a free Naan Roll or Spice Bowl, courtesy of the popular street food vendor. There’s no cap to this fantastic offer, with the popular street food vendor committing to feed everyone that turns up on the day. Redeeming the free meal couldn’t be easier, with hungry residents across the region able to simply arrive and choose from a selection of healthy naan rolls and build-your-own bowls – with most meals under 500 calories and free from butter, ghee and heavy oils.

Since serving its first customer back in 2016, Rola Wala has used its business as a force for good, providing a free school meal to hungry children across the world for every naan roll that is sold, through its partnership with charity One Feeds Two. The Indian Street Food vendor was the first UK restaurant to support the organisation in its quest to end world hunger and has already provided over 800,000 free school meals across the nation as part of the initiative.

The vibrant Trinity Kitchen-based restaurant has also launched Wala Wallet, a new digital app allowing customers to place orders and earn tasty rewards through its industry leading loyalty plan.

Mark Wright, founder of Rola Wala added: “We’re all going through difficult financial times, so it was important for us to try and help where we can and show that we really care about the community. Covid hit us like everybody else, but we’re back! So we’re thrilled to be able to offer everyone in Leeds a free and tasty meal, encouraging locals to come and join us on the day. There really is no limit – If one hundred thousand people turn up on the day, we will feed them!

“We know that the cost-of-living crisis isn’t going to be fixed overnight but hopefully offering everyone across the region a free and healthy meal will go a little way in helping out. And what better way to spread joy across the city as everyone gets together to enjoy a free and fresh healthy Indian street food inspired treat.”

At a time of national crisis and reports that over one million emergency food parcels have been handed out to children across the UK*, this free meal initiative comes just before World Hunger Day. Whilst the campaign won’t reduce the number of families that have to rely on food banks, it reinforces that Rola Wala are very much part of the Leeds community and have a desire to help where possible.
