The Foresters Arms, a 17th-century pub steeped in history and located in the heart of Grassington, has been sold. Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co recently announced the sale of this well-loved establishment, which has been trading for around 400 years.
Grassington, set within the picturesque Yorkshire Dales National Park, draws visitors from near and far. The Foresters Arms is a key part of the area’s charm, offering a pub, restaurant, outdoor seating, and seven ensuite letting rooms. The property is described as being in turnkey condition, with opportunities for further development, such as adding more letting rooms or enhancing the outdoor space.
The pub had been owned by Rita and her family for more than thirty years, during which time it became a fixture of the local community. Now retiring, Rita has passed the reins to Brian and Keeva Hartley, experienced publicans excited to take on this new venture.

“We are excited to be the new owners of such an iconic pub and are looking forward to the journey and settling into life in Grassington. We would like to thank Rita, Phil, and all their family, and we wish them well for the future,” said Brian and Keeva.
The sale was managed by Alex Rex, Associate Director at Christie & Co, who noted the strong interest generated by the property.
“There wasn’t a shortage of interest in this business. Grassington is one of the most popular destinations in this part of the country, and that showed with the offers we received. Brian and Keeva are established publicans, and I am sure they will do an amazing job of carrying on the legacy left by Rita and her family,” said Alex.
The sale of The Foresters Arms, at an undisclosed price, highlights the strong demand for hospitality businesses in sought-after tourist locations.
Locals and visitors alike can look forward to seeing The Foresters Arms continue to be a welcoming feature of Grassington under its new ownership.
