Housebuilder Appeals to Kind-Hearted Yorkshire Folk to Donate Gifts for The Yorkshire Children’s Trust

A Yorkshire housebuilder has pledged its support to this year’s Christmas Presents Appeal by Yorkshire Children’s Trust, which provides gifts to children who will be spending this Christmas in hospital.

Miller Homes, which has developments across the Yorkshire region, is using its sales centres and head office in Wakefield, as drop off points for donations from residents and members of the public to help the appeal beat the 2,000 presents they received in 2022.

“We are very pleased to offer our support to this appeal once again, and hope that we get a wonderful response from people in our local communities,” said Debbie Whittingham, Regional Sales Director, Miller Homes Yorkshire. “We have witnessed just how a small donation makes such a difference to a child and their family, and this is why we wanted to help make it as easy as possible for people to get involved.”

The appeal is delighted to accept gifts that are suitable from birth to teenagers, that are not unduly large or heavy, are priced under £10, are brand new and are dropped off at the collection points unwrapped.

“We have developments in nine areas of the Yorkshire region and feel we are well placed to support the YCT in acting as present drop off points and help bring a little bit of Christmas magic to these young people who are facing health challenges, and the prospect of being in hospital over the festive period,” said Debbie. “With many supermarkets having toys, games, books, or cosmetic sets for sale, we’re hopeful people will offer their support so together we can make a real difference.”

Miller Homes staff, friends, and colleagues are also getting behind the appeal and have already collected a number of donations.

Donations can be made at  sales centres at Kings Park, Drighlighton; Langley Gate, York; Simpson Park, Harworth, Doncaster; The Woods at City Fields, Wakefield, Spring Wood Park, Bramhope, Bridgewood Green, Collingham, The Fairways, Wombwell and Applewood at Mirfield. Donations are also being accepted at head office, located at Calder Park, Wakefield.

The last drop off date for donations is 27th November 2023.

Gifts will be distributed to hospitals across the region including Calderdale Hospital and Bradford Royal Infirmary, LGI Children’s Cancer Ward, Dewsbury District Hospital, Airedale Hospital and Pinderfields. The appeal is also supporting families who have children staying at Eckersley House.
