Work has officially begun on a new £25 million housing development on Rolston Road, Hornsea, with leading UK homebuilder Keepmoat set to deliver 158 homes in partnership with Together Housing.
The development will create a mix of private and affordable homes, with more than half of the properties earmarked for affordable rent and shared ownership. In total, 84 homes will be delivered as affordable housing, helping to meet rising demand in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The scheme is backed by investment to support the wider community, including £260,000 allocated to local schools. This funding will contribute to upgrades and help increase school capacity as the neighbourhood grows. A further £195,000 will go towards improving local outdoor sports facilities, promoting healthy lifestyles for new and existing residents.
Daniel Crew, Divisional Chair at Keepmoat, said: “It’s a pleasure to be working with Together Housing on our latest development in Hornsea. With over 50% of the homes already pre-sold, we’re pleased to be delivering much-needed housing stock to the local community. Alongside this, we’re proud to be investing over £450,000 into the local area to support schools and sports facilities, demonstrating our commitment to building not just homes, but thriving communities.”
The development reflects Keepmoat’s approach to creating long-term value in areas where housing is in high demand. Nearly 70% of Keepmoat’s active sites are on brownfield land, helping to bring underused spaces back into use.
Dai Howells, Assistant Director of Development at Together Housing, added: “We’re proud to be partnering with Keepmoat on this exciting new development in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Together, we’re committed to meeting Hornsea’s growing housing demand while supporting the community’s long-term growth and supporting those who are being priced out of the current market to live and work in this growing community.”
He added, “Our aim is that this new neighbourhood will offer more than housing; it will become a vibrant, supportive community that brings people together and provides lasting benefits for generations to come.”
