Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) has been named HR Team of the Year at the Yorkshire Excellence in HR Awards, held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on 23rd October.
The accolade recognises LBA’s people-first approach to communication, engagement, and collaboration, which has been central to the airport’s ongoing transformation through its LBA:REGEN programme.
The judges praised the team for its impact across the business, saying: “With a seamless connection between the People function and the wider business – a true masterclass in integration and impact. Leeds Bradford Airport’s focus on communication ensured the right messages reached the right people, in the right way. The results are clear: faster hiring, stronger engagement, and real commercial value delivered across the organisation. A shining example of strategy, empathy, and execution working hand in hand.”
Over the past year, the HR team has driven improvements in recruitment, onboarding, colleague engagement, and communication. Their work supported major milestones, including the launch of the new terminal extension in June 2025, the introduction of new digital communication channels, and an upgraded onboarding experience.
The results have been measurable. Time-to-hire has fallen from nine weeks to 3.8 weeks, employee retention has increased, and colleagues report stronger alignment across the organisation.
