Leeds Bradford Airport Prepares for Transformative 2025 with Terminal Regeneration

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) is gearing up for a milestone year in 2025 as the first phase of its £100 million terminal regeneration project nears completion. This major upgrade promises to enhance the experience for passengers travelling from Yorkshire’s largest airport.

The redevelopment, set to be completed in spring/summer 2025, will introduce a modern terminal extension featuring spacious baggage collection areas, enhanced security facilities, two new customer lounges, expanded retail and dining options, and improved accessibility. The upgrade will not only provide a more comfortable experience but also support LBA’s sustainability goals and increased capacity.

Passenger numbers at LBA have continued to rise, with 2024 seeing a 5.8% increase compared to the previous year. Over 4.24 million passengers travelled on nearly 32,000 flights, representing a 6.2% growth in operations. Alicante was the most popular destination, with 50,000 more passengers travelling there compared to 2023, followed by Dublin and Palma De Mallorca.

Tom Holdsworth, Leeds Bradford’s Aviation Development Manager, said: “It’s been a remarkable year here at LBA and it’s great to see numbers of both passengers and flights continue to increase at a good level. Our existing partners including easyJet, Jet2, KLM, Ryanair, and Wizz Air have continuously increased the number of flights and destination offerings for customers travelling from LBA throughout the year, plus we’ve welcomed SunExpress as a new airline partner.

“2025 is a really exciting year for us as the terminal regeneration really comes to life and we’ll see customers enjoy a new travel experience from LBA in the summer.”

At the end of 2024, LBA unveiled updated visuals of the regeneration project, giving passengers a glimpse of the transformed terminal. Once phase one is completed, attention will shift to redeveloping the existing terminal as part of phase two.

This January, LBA has also launched its new “Faff Less. Holiday More” campaign, promoting the convenience of travelling from Leeds Bradford Airport. The campaign will run across outdoor advertising, radio, and other platforms.
