Olive Robinson, resident at Wykebeck Court Bupa Care Home in Leeds, has recently celebrated her 105th birthday in style surrounded by her family and friends.
Danielle Saipe, Senior Activity Coordinator, organised a day of special celebrations for Olive’s milestone birthday. Joined by her daughter Joyce, Olive celebrated her birthday dancing to her favourite Frank Sinatra and classic 50s and 60s music, reminiscing about the good old times and sharing stories with other residents.
When asked about her special day, Olive commented: “I had the most wonderful day celebrating my birthday. I especially enjoyed the music – even at 105, I still enjoy a little dance. I have been able to live such a long and happy life because of my wonderful husband and fabulous daughter… and of course, my trusted Nivea cream to keep my complexion nice and relatively young!”
Diane Hashmi, Home Manager at Wykebeck Court, commented: “We were very excited to mark Olive’s milestone birthday. We pride ourselves on celebrating our residents’ special occasions for family and friends and it’s really lovely to see our residents share such landmark celebrations with their loved ones.”
Olive has led an extraordinary life. She was born and grew up in Roseville Road, Leeds in 1917. she went on to marry her husband Leonard in 1939. They have a lovely daughter named Joyce, who Olive absolutely adores.
Throughout her career, Olive worked as a Customs Officer and spent times at Burton’s tailoring factory dealing with accounts and wages. She has always enjoyed dress making and sewing, something she continues to do as Wykebeck as part of their extensive activities they have on offer.
