Major New Care Home Nears Completion, Creating 80 Jobs in Leeds

Construction of a major new care home in Adel is nearing completion, with Adel Square Care Home set to welcome its first residents in early 2026. The 86-bed home will provide residential, dementia and respite care for families across North Leeds and the wider region.

Leeds has the second highest number of people diagnosed with dementia of any local authority area in England, making the new facility a vital addition to local care provision. The home will also bring long-term employment opportunities, with around 80 roles across care, hospitality, wellbeing and support. Recruitment is planned to begin later this year.

Kirsty Crozier, Managing Director at St Mary’s Care Homes, said: “Adel Square Care Home represents a major investment in both care provision and the wider community. Leeds has one of the highest levels of dementia diagnoses in the country and families are feeling that pressure. This home will provide much needed capacity, modern facilities and the type of personalised care people rightly expect. We are also creating around 80 jobs which is an important part of our long-term commitment to the area.”

The home has been designed as one of St Mary’s most sustainable developments, featuring high-efficiency systems, enhanced thermal performance and integrated renewable energy. It is fully electric, powered by air source heat pumps and solar PV panels, achieving an EPC rating of A.

Adel Square Care Home will offer en-suite bedrooms across three floors, communal lounges, a café, activity spaces, landscaped gardens and a full programme of resident-led activities and events. It is part of a wider regeneration of a previously derelict site, now being brought back into use for housing and community facilities.

The home is expected to open to residents early next year, subject to CQC registration. A public open day is planned as part of the official launch.
