Meadowhall has announced the return of its much-loved animatronic bears this Christmas, delighting shoppers across Yorkshire. The nostalgic characters, originally seen at the centre in the 1990s and early 2000s, will be back serenading visitors with festive tunes from Thursday 27th November.
The Bears will be stationed on the Upper Level of The Avenue, giving families the chance to relive cherished childhood memories or introduce the characters to younger generations. Their comeback follows years of requests from shoppers eager to see the dancing bears return.

Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, commented: “We’ve done it! The beloved Christmas bears are back in their rightful home – it’s brilliant. We know just how much shoppers wanted the bears to return and we made it our mission to make it happen this Christmas, searching the region high and low for where they might be 20 years later. They were so loved by families throughout the 90s, with visitors of all ages considering them a staple part of their festive season, and we wanted to recreate that. It’s been fantastic to see shopper’s reactions so far, there’s nothing quite like spreading that magical festive cheer!”
Alongside the Bears, Meadowhall is hosting a range of festive activities this year, including Magical Winterland, Winter Spectacular performances, Christmas Cirque shows and magical light curtain displays.
