Meadowhall Donates 600 Easter Eggs To Help Families Across Sheffield

Meadowhall has donated 600 chocolate eggs to the Sheffield S6 Foodbank to ensure local children don’t miss out on an Easter treat this year. The donation comes at a critical time for many households in the city, as high everyday costs continue to force families to prioritise essentials over seasonal celebrations.

The Sheffield S6 Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust network, currently provides emergency food packages to an average of 400 people every week across its 11 sessions in the city. Recent data indicates that a staggering one-third of those relying on these parcels are children, highlighting the vital role of local support during school holidays.

This latest contribution builds on the ongoing partnership between the shopping centre and the charity. Over Christmas 2025, a toy donation point at Meadowhall collected more thanĀ 800 gifts, ensuring that at least 700 children across Sheffield had a present to open on Christmas Day.

Darren Pearce, Centre Director at Meadowhall, said:

“After seeing the real difference our Christmas toy drive made to hundreds of local children, we wanted to make sure families could enjoy an Easter treat too. Small joys like chocolate eggs are often the first things to go when budgets are tight, but they’re part of what makes Easter special for lots of children. We’re committed to supporting Sheffield families throughout the year, not just at Christmas.”

Sam Evans, CEO at the Food and Community Trust (which operates the Sheffield S6 Foodbank), added:

“We operate 11 foodbank sessions across Sheffield every week serving an average of 400 people weekly, sadly a third being children. We’re hugely grateful to Meadowhall for their donation which means more families we support can enjoy a treat this Easter.”

Beyond these seasonal drives, Meadowhall continues its extensive community work in 2026, including its new partnership with Weston Park Cancer Charity and acting as the presenting partner for the upcoming Pride of Yorkshire sculpture trail this summer.
