A striking new public sculpture has been unveiled today at Victoria Leeds, marking the shopping destination’s continued celebration and sponsorship of Leeds Pride.
The heart-shaped installation, titled Heart to Hearts on Sidney Street, takes centre stage at the heart of the centre and aims to bring people together through conversation. It has been created in partnership with local charity Out Together, which supports older LGBTQ+ people across the region and works to combat loneliness and isolation.
TV personality and Leeds Pride host Matt Jameson officially opened the installation, joined by representatives from Out Together and the Leeds Pride team.
This year’s installation is part of Victoria Leeds’ wider commitment to inclusion and wellbeing during Pride. The space has been designed to encourage people to sit, talk and connect with others in the community, especially those who may be feeling alone or disconnected.
Jo Coburn, Centre Director at Victoria Leeds, said:
“Pride is a celebration, but it’s also a call to be kind, be present, and be there for one another. This activation is designed for people to take a seat, enjoy the moment and connect with people around them. We’re incredibly proud to stand with Leeds Pride and Out Together in championing community and inclusion for everyone.”
The installation will remain on Sidney Street throughout July, acting as a reminder of the power of small gestures and meaningful conversations.

Tim Gittins, Chair of Out Together, said:
“Loneliness affects thousands in the LGBTQ+ community, especially older people. This beautiful display brings visibility to those often overlooked and reminds us that a simple conversation can change someone’s day, or even their life.”
A spokesperson for Leeds Pride added:
“We’re thrilled to see Victoria Leeds once again go beyond the rainbow with a Pride installation that has real meaning. Heart to Hearts captures the spirit of Pride and our collective mission for solidarity and compassion and it brings that to life for everyone in Leeds to see.”
Leeds Pride returns on Sunday 20 July for its 19th year, with organisers expecting the city’s biggest celebration yet. The day will include a dedicated cabaret stage, live performances, and entertainment across the city. Last year’s event attracted more than 80,000 visitors, and 2025 is set to be even bigger.
