The National Science and Media Museum has officially opened its newest exhibition, Setting the Stage: 70 Years of the Eurovision Song Contest, exploring the technical evolution of the world’s largest live televised music event.
The exhibition takes visitors behind the scenes of seven decades of broadcasting history, from the early Marconi Mk III cameras that made the first transnational broadcasts possible to the modern high-tech headsets used for today’s high-energy routines.

Attendees can get hands-on with interactive displays, including a Nil Points Jukebox that explores the famous voting system, a projection-mapped dress showcasing digital innovation, and a dedicated performance space where guests can take to the stage themselves.
Beyond the technology, the display features iconic outfits, archive footage, and memorabilia from the global fan community. The exhibition’s launch coincides with a Big Family Party this Saturday, 16th May, featuring live music, a silent disco, and crafts to kick off the museum’s summer programme.
