An award-winning East Yorkshire holiday park has opened the doors to its brand-new Country Club, following a £4.1 million rebuild after a fire destroyed the original building last year.
The transformation marks the biggest investment in the 41-year history of Patrington Haven Leisure Park. The owners-only park, near Withernsea, faced a major setback in April 2024 when a late-night fire tore through the Country Club. The blaze destroyed the bar and restaurant, left most of the building with heavy smoke and water damage, and badly affected the pool.
Now, the park has bounced back with a full-scale rebuild that Managing Director Guy Sparkes says sets a new standard for UK holiday parks.
“This was never just about repairing the damage,” he said. “We decided to turn it into an opportunity to start afresh and invest in a very big way to create a special place for our holiday home owners and the wider community to use and enjoy.”

The new Country Club includes Guy’s Bar and Restaurant, offering a menu based on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients from across East Yorkshire, and The Gallery Coffee Lounge, a relaxed space for hot drinks and catch-ups.
The interior design takes cues from luxury hospitality names like The Ivy and Celebrity Cruises, with bold artwork, stylish furniture and a smart finish throughout. Visitors will also notice some high-tech touches, including robot servers and modern audio-visual systems.

The indoor heated pool has been completely rebuilt and now features upgraded plant equipment and mechanical systems. New health suites offer sauna and steam rooms, a cold room, rainfall showers and heated loungers, along with updated family changing areas.
The park’s spa and gym have also been overhauled. The gym space has been significantly expanded and is now one of the largest of its kind in a UK holiday park.
All new facilities are now open to guests and locals, except for the pool, which is due to reopen in phases from August.
Local and regional businesses played a key role in the rebuild, including Havercroft Construction from Brigg, TPM Plumbing & Heating in Gainsborough, Driffield-based Yorkshire Pools and PJD Electrical from nearby Burstwick.

The park has also taken steps to improve its environmental impact. A 20,000 sq ft rooftop solar array now generates 285 kWh of clean electricity, and a 32 kW air source heat pump has replaced the old gas system.
Patrington Haven is home to nearly 500 static caravans and operates for 11 months of the year. The Country Club runs almost year-round and is popular with holiday home owners, their guests, day visitors and the local community.
The park has previously won Holiday Park of the Year at the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards four times.
Guy Sparkes said: “We wanted to raise the bar for leisure facilities in a holiday park and I think we’ve done that. We’re incredibly proud of what’s been achieved. The Country Club offers a high-quality environment, where people can unwind, recharge and enjoy time together.”
