Rock N Roll Circus Sheffield To Return Next Year

Following a triumphant circus themed live music debut, organisers of the inaugural Rock N Roll Circus Sheffield today have confirmed the event WILL return to Don Valley next summer.

Thousands of music fans were treated to three full days of music over the weekend which saw triumphant performances from the likes of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Happy Mondays, Natalie Imbruglia, Confidence Man, Yorkshire’s very own Self Esteem and an afternoon and evening of euphoric dance music from Gatecrasher.

And thanks to the event’s success and warm reception from the Yorkshire faithful, the circus themed event will come back next summer, poised and ready to take place on Friday 30th August, Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September 2024.

Event organiser Ali O’Reilly, speaking under the giant big top – which has dominated the skies of Sheffield of late – for one last time, said:

We want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for making this event so very special.

We knew Sheffield has an unbelievable reputation for hosting major live music events and it was our dream to come here and continue that legacy. We want to thank all the artists, circus performers, Sheffield City Council, our partners, volunteers and sponsors for supporting us. And to the public of Yorkshire. You are simply the best and we couldn’t have done this without you. We will see you next year. We’re coming back for you, bigger and better!”

BBC Introducing’s Christian Carlisle – which has been showcasing all the very best of new music in the county at Rock N Roll Circus – said: “This weekend has made me want to run away and join the circus.

The combination of music and performers made for a captivating mix, it had eyes and ears transfixed from start to end. To have a fledgling event come to Sheffield and be so supportive of its music community and respectful of its heritage is nothing but a good thing and testament to the nature of the great team who have delivered it. Roll up and roll on for next year!”

Australian pop icon Natalie Imbruglia, who performed ahead of Self Esteem’s memorable performance, continued:

“The tent was full of love at Rock N Roll Circus in Sheffield. That was so much fun, it was my best crowd of the year!”

Councillor Martin Smith, Chair of Sheffield City Council’s Economic Development and Skills, said:

“It will be fantastic to welcome the Rock N Roll Circus Roll Circus back to Sheffield in 2024 after seeing so many music fans enjoy the inaugural event last weekend, including seeing local legend Self Esteem and a whole host of homegrown talent perform.

“Sheffield’s strong musical heritage goes back decades, and the city has a good reputation for producing some of the UK’s favourite bands and artists. Events like Rock N Roll Circus attract more music fans to the city, boost our economy and provide opportunities for local creatives. It will be brilliant to have the event back for 2024.”

Rock N Roll Circus is a three-day circus themed live music event taking place at Don Valley Bowl Sheffield.
