Sheffield is set to celebrate the Year of the Horse with its largest Lunar Chinese New Year Festival to date. The free two-day event takes place in the Peace Gardens on 21–22 February 2026, featuring world-class Chinese acrobats, lion and dragon dances, live music, street food, parades, and family-friendly activities.
The festival, organised by Cultural Inclusive CIC with Sheffield City Council, Sheffield BID, and title sponsor Chery, also includes city-wide events in the week leading up to the weekend. Highlights include a Gala Spectacular at The Octagon, Meadowhall performances, and school workshops in calligraphy, Mandarin, and Chinese crafts.
Sheffield’s multicultural identity is celebrated with performances from local and international groups, including South Asian, African, Roma, Filipino, Thai communities, and more. The festival also features the International Cultural Costume Show hosted by Heather Stewart-Whyte and Miss South Yorkshire 2025/26.
Festival organiser Jerry Cheung said: “This festival is about bringing communities together, celebrating culture, and sharing amazing performances across Sheffield.”
The event is free and open to all. More info and tickets for the Gala show at The Octagon: www.sheffieldlunarchinesenewyear.com
