Families in York can enjoy a festive adventure at Fairfax House this Christmas. Children aged 16 and under get free entry with a paying adult. Running until 5 January 2025, A Christmas Mousetery: The Case of the Missing Ruby invites visitors to solve the mystery of the stolen Fairfax Ruby.
The dastardly Highway Mouse is the prime suspect, but he has help. Guests can explore the Georgian townhouse, meet mischievous mousey characters, and examine their alibis to uncover the inside mouse. Over 400 cheeky mice are hidden throughout the house, causing chaos in rooms dressed for Christmas.
“This wonderfully charming event offers our visitors the chance to experience a traditional Georgian Christmas with a mousey twist,” said Sarah Burnage, Curator at Fairfax House. “Your job is to play detective, read their alibis and find the inside mouse. Everywhere you look there’s a cheeky mouse up to something.”
The event runs daily except 24, 25, 26, 27, 31 December, and 1 January. Tickets cost £9.50 for adults and £8 for concessions, and each adult ticket includes a free annual return pass. Pre-booking is recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Visit fairfaxhouse.co.uk for details.
