The Lister Arms in Malham is celebrating success after battling it out with businesses across Yorkshire to scoop the ‘Dog Friendly Accommodation/Attraction of the Year’ accolade at The Yorkshire Post Tourism Awards 2023.
The inn, which is owned by hospitality business Daniel Thwaites, stormed to success at the prestigious awards ceremony – held at New Dock Hall in Leeds.
To win the highly-coveted title, the inn took part in a gruelling entry process, with The Lister Arms praised by judges for being “a truly dog-friendly inn with offers an array of dog-friendly amenities including a Waggy Tails welcome pack and breakfast sausages.”
The four-star inn was also commended for its charitable contributions by “donating £5 of every dog-friendly stay to Dog’s Trust.”
The annual Yorkshire Post Tourism Awards celebrates the very best of Yorkshire’s hoteliers, B&Bs, restaurants, theme parks, visitor attractions and all businesses which attract tourists to ‘God’s own country’.
The New York-themed awards ceremony saw businesses across the county treated to a champagne reception, followed by a three-course meal and an evening of entertainment.
Commenting on the award win, Chris Denning, General Manager at The Lister Arms, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured the award for Dog Friendly Accommodation/Attraction of the Year, especially with Yorkshire boasting an abundance of fantastic dog-friendly businesses across the region.
“Having so many popular walking routes on our doorstep, we understand that for dog owners, their four-legged friends are very much part of the family, which is why we’re always looking to add those extra touches to our dog-friendly amenities – some days you’ll find there are more dogs in the bar area than humans.”
