Charles Brett opened his first fish & chip restaurant in 1919 on North Lane in Headingley. The business remained one of the best known and most well loved fish & chip establishments in the area for many, many years. The brand has since been taken over and freshened up to fit in with modern day dining.
Although famous for their fish & chips, you’d be wrong to assume that Charlie Brett’s is all about cheap and cheerful family takeaways. The head chef at their Allerton previously worked under Jean Christophe Novelli and Gary Rhodes. He produces some stunning fish dishes using only the best quality, locally sourced ingredients. For those who don’t like fish, there are also a number of excellent meat dishes.
Begin with one of their popular starters such as Moules Mariniere or Tempura Soft Shell Crab before tucking into Grilled Whole Lemon Sole or Seared Tuna Steak au Poivre. For meat lovers, there are scrumptious mains such as Kangaroo Fillet or Confit Duck Leg.
