With the Yorkshire Dales right on the doorstep and cities such as Leeds and Bradford just a short train journey away, the historic market town of Skipton in North Yorkshire is a hugely popular place to live. Not so long ago, Skipton was named the “Happiest Place to Live” and it’s pretty obvious why – the town boasts excellent schools, a beautiful park, an award-winning High Street, a marvellous array of fantastic pubs and restaurants, and a friendly, welcoming community.
House prices here are relatively high in comparision to those in nearby towns and villages, but, as the saying goes – you really do get what you pay for! We’ve been looking at some of the properties currently on the market in Skipton and there really are some wonderful properties available in some of the best areas of the town. Here are just a few of our favourites…
Belgrave Street – £240,000
Marketed by Dacre, Son & Hartley
This 3 bed mid-terrace property has recently been refurbished to a delighful standard. In a popular residential area not too far from town and in close proximity to the town’s excellent grammar schools, this attractive family home is very reasonably priced. All three of the bedrooms are pretty spacious so it would be ideal for a growing family and, as the decor throughout is tasteful and contemporary, one could move straight in and make it their own with very little effort.
Our absolute favourite thing about the interior of this house is the beautiful entrance hall with its stunning period features. The super modern open plan kitchen and dining area comes a close second – it would be perfect for those busy family breakfast times and there’s a separate utility area which is a god send for those with young children. All in all, this property would make a wonderful first home for a young or growing family.
Airedale Avenue – £315,000
Marketed by Dacre, Son & Hartley
Wow! This 4 bed semi-detached house in one of Skipton’s quieter residential areas is truly stunning both inside and out. Located just on the outskirts of the town, it’s within walking distance to the town centre but far enough away to ensure peace and quiet! It has a garden both to the side and to the rear and offers wonderful views of the nearby moors.
Spacious, beautifully decorated and packed with some lovely features, this property would provide a wonderful home for a larger family. All the bedrooms are doubles and the kitchen/dining room is a really good size so there is no shortage of space here. There’s also a great conservatory with patio doors leading out to the decked rear garden – ideal for entertaining or simply relaxing and enjoying those terrific Yorkshire views.
Prince Crescent – £327,500
Marketed by Purple Bricks
A 4 bed semi-detached family home in a popular residential area, close to the amenities of Skipton town centre. The property boasts two extentions – a two-storey extension to the side and a kitchen extension to the rear. Three of the bedrooms are on the first floor but there’s a great guest bedroom/sitting room on the ground floor in addition to a shower / utility room. These ground floor facilities would be ideal for an older relative or a dependent with limited walking ability.
It has been decorated and furnished to a high standard so not much, if anything, would need doing prior to moving in. This property also comes with a generous amount of land including a large landscaped garden, a private driveway and a garage to the rear. A really lovely, spacious property that has clearly been well looked after.
Raikeswood Drive – £438,500
Marketed by Hunters
This delightful 4 bed semi is in one of Skipton’s most desirable residential areas. Just a short walk from the town centre and close to the town’s secondary schools and pretty park, this family home is in fantastic location. The extended 1930s property backs on to Skipton Woods and boasts some cracking views of the Aire Valley too.
On the groundfloor you’ll find two spacious reception rooms, a large kitchen/breakfast room, a utility room, WC and a beautiful conservatory overlooking the rear garden. On the first floor, there’s a study, bathroom, WC and 4 spacious bedrooms – one of which is ensuite and has it’s own adjoining dressing room. Plenty of space here for a larger familly and certainly no shortage of facilities for those with teenagers who squabble over the bathroom of a morning!
