In recent years, the number of people turning to food banks in order to feed their families, has increased tenfold. Such organisations rely on donations from local residents to help the more needy members of their communities.
One such food bank, which has worked tirelessly to help those who have found themselves in financial difficulty through no fault of their own, is Skipton Food Bank. The hardworking and passionate people who run it, help 80 local families every week by distributing the 25 tonnes of produce that is kindly donated to them throughout the year.
This week, the volunteers at Skipton’s much-needed food bank, discovered that they need to move premises by 23rd October, despite having only recently moved in.
Understandably, much of their limited funds were spent fitting out their current spot in Skipton town centre, so funding another move whilst continuing to provide a lifeline to desperate locals just isn’t possible.
Skipton Food Bank are now appealing to local residents to assist them during this difficult time by making donations on their JustGiving page.
