The White Horse of Kilburn

The White Horse was designed by Thomas Taylor a Victorian businessman. It was cut in to the hillside in 1857, Taylor had seen chalk cut figures during his travels in southern England and was set upon creating something similar in his home. The White Horse is 314ft long and 228ft high and is a marvellous sight, well worth the trip if you’re in the area. Interestingly, the horse was covered during World War II to avoid it becoming a target for German bombers.
