Celebrate Father’s Day with Breakfast and a Hands-On Herb Planting Workshop at Dobbies York

Dobbies Garden Centres in York is offering a fresh take on Father’s Day this year, with a new event that blends a hearty breakfast with a creative grow-your-own activity.

The Father’s Day Sunday Breakfast and Planting Experience takes place on Sunday 15th June from 9.30 to 11am. It’s a chance for guests to enjoy a cooked breakfast together before rolling up their sleeves for a hands-on herb planting session in the garden centre’s plant area.

The 90-minute experience begins in Dobbies’ restaurant, where guests can choose from a range of breakfast options, including the Full Breakfast, Traditional Breakfast, Vegetarian Breakfast, and alternatives for vegan and non-gluten diets.

After breakfast, Dobbies’ Green Team will lead a demonstration and Q&A session, guiding guests through planting their own herb container. Each participant will receive an oakwood-effect barrel planter, made from 100% recycled plastic, along with a curated selection of herbs chosen by Dobbies’ Plant Buyer, Nigel Lawton. The planters are suitable for indoor and outdoor use and are designed to add fresh flavour to home-cooked meals throughout the summer.

All tools, gloves and planting materials will be provided, and each guest will leave with their finished herb planter and recipe cards to take home. The full experience, including breakfast and planter, is valued at up to £40.

Ayesha Nickson, Events Programme Manager at Dobbies, said:

“Our Father’s Day Sunday Breakfast and Planting Experience is a brilliant way to celebrate the father figures in your life. Whether he’s a seasoned gardener or just getting started, this hands-on planting session combined with a delicious breakfast makes for a memorable and meaningful afternoon.”

Tickets are priced at £42 per person and can be booked online at www.dobbies.com/events.
