Exciting Summer Events Line-Up at Wellington Place

Wellington Place is set to be the ultimate summer destination in Leeds, with a host of exciting, free events for everyone to enjoy. From live sports screenings and yoga sessions to vibrant markets and engaging family activities, there’s something for all ages to look forward to.

The Summer Sessions series at this bustling urban quarter includes the Wimbledon Weekender, Fayre in the Square, Stretch in the Square, poetry workshops, and guided railway history walks.

Wimbledon Weekender

On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July, Tower Square will transform into Leeds’ very own Murray Mount for the thrilling finale of this year’s Wimbledon. Enjoy the matches on a big screen from the comfort of deck chairs and savour the classic treat of strawberry and cream ice cream, with 100 free Northern Bloc ice creams up for grabs.

Fayre in the Square

Fayre in the Square offers a fresh twist on the traditional farmer’s market. Throughout August, visitors can explore a range of local artisan art and food stalls, and enjoy live music from talented local musicians. The family-friendly fun continues every Saturday with activities for children of all ages provided by The PLAY Tent. The market will be open on Fridays from 3pm to 8pm and Saturdays from noon to 6pm on the 2nd and 3rd, 16th and 17th, and 30th and 31st of August.

Stretch in the Square

Unwind with Stretch in the Square, a series of free yoga sessions set in the peaceful surroundings of Tower Square. These one-hour sessions will take place on Saturday 20th July, Saturday 10th August, and Saturday 7th September from 10am to 11am. Free tickets are available via Eventbrite.

Railway History Walks

Dive into the rich heritage of Wellington Place and Leeds with free guided railway history walks. These tours, coinciding with Monopoly Leeds Takeover, will take place every other Saturday from 27th July to 1st September, 11am to 12pm. The walks conclude with a visit to the new Wagon Lifting Hoist Mini Museum.

Poetry Workshops

Unleash your creativity at the Poetry Workshops on 9th August. Children can enjoy a session from 10am to 11.30am, while adults can hone their skills from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. To reserve your spot, email events@wellingtonplace.co.uk.

Explore the Mini Museum

In addition to the Summer Sessions, Wellington Place’s Wagon Lifting Hoist Mini Museum is a must-visit. Located in the Grade II listed landmark lifting tower, this mini museum celebrates Leeds’s rich industrial past. It’s open Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
