Medieval Mayhem

On Saturday 29 July and Sunday 30 July, you have the opportunity to take part in a family-friendly medieval merriment and mayhem! This exciting event will take place in the Museums Quarter where the location will be transformed into a real medieval haven! Come and have fun with knights in armour, medieval residents, archers, musicians and so many more!

Crime Writing Festival

From the 20th to the 23rd of July 2023, get the chance to experience a one-in-a-lifetime event! Get ready to be on the edge of your seat with some mind-gripping and exciting writing. This year’s festival is going to be a special one because Theakston Old Peculiar Crime Writing Festival will be celebrating its 20th anniversary! So, you better mark those dates on your calendar because it would be a heinous crime, if you missed this! Vaseem Khan, a serial award-winning crime novelist, will be acting as the Chair this year. Some special guests include Lee Child, Andrew Child, Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell, and so many more! 

The Theakston Old Peculiar Crime Writing Festival will feature creative workshops, enlightening panels and author talks. Who knows, you just might meet the next Agatha Christie. This event will take place at Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate.

Aesthetica Short Film Festival

The video game industry is constantly growing, and this event is a chance for gaming enthusiasts to celebrate the creativity and production in this industry. At the Aesthetica Gaming Labs, gaming is considered a film, where players bring a story to life. This is a chance for gamers and creatives to celebrate games that excite them and immerse them in new worlds!

Humber Science Festival

Here’s another family-friendly event that you can use to occupy your days! Scientists, engineers, and mathematicians from all over the Humber region and beyond will be there to celebrate the best of what STEM has to offer. The Humber Science Festival will take place from the 7th to the 10th of September 2023 and entry will be free!

This book fair will be a unique and comprehensive display of their expertise in the rare, antiquarian, and second-hand book markets.
