6 Beautiful Boutique Hotels in Yorkshire

As Yorkshire is so vast, many of us Yorkshire folk choose to remain in God’s Own County when we fancy a short break or weekend away. Yorkshire has an abundance of historical cities, pretty market towns and scenic seaside resorts, making it as diverse as it is beautiful.

Hotels are perfect for short breaks and city stays and there are excellent hotel options in each and every town and city across Yorkshire. Heavily advertised budget hotels and big brand hospitality chains are often the first points of call when booking that short stay. However, when staying away from home, why not opt for something a little different? Choose a small hotel with personality. Opt for a room that doesn’t have to be reached via ten flights of stairs and a maze of crowded corridors. A room that has been beautifully decorated to be unlike the rest, includes thoughtful little extras to make your stay more comfortable and gives you the perfect backdrop for those fully Instagrammable holiday shots.

So, before you plan your next Yorkshire break, take a look at our list of just some of our favourite boutique hotels in Yorkshire. They all have less than 100 rooms and they’re all wonderfully unique… Of Our Favourite Boutique Hotels in Yorkshire…

Our Favourite Boutique Hotels in Yorkshire…

Quebecs Hotel, Leeds

Boutique hotel in Yorkshire

Quebecs Hotel is the only independently owned luxury hotel in the centre of Leeds. The Grade II listed hotel offers classic and contemporary rooms and excellent customer service from relaxed and friendly staff. Built in the year 1891 as “Leeds and County Liberal Club”, it is without a doubt one of the most distinctive terracotta bricked buildings in the city. Many of the original features remain, including their grand staircase and five stained glass windows which illustrate the coats of arms of five Yorkshire towns.

Quebec’s pride themselves on providing high levels of comfort in all their rooms with Egyptian linen sheets, duck feather and down duvets and individually controlled air conditioning all provided as standard. The amenities and luxurious little extras such as mini bar, flat screen tv, toiletries, complimentary magazines, personal safe and 24-hour room service also come with every room, so the price of the rooms is pretty much based on size.

This boutique hotel offers various dining options such as Afternoon Tea in their beautiful lounge area at the top of the grand staircase, and made-to-order breakfasts in the Conservatory with excellent views across the rooftops of Leeds.

If you’re a fan of the more contemporary hotels then this chic boutique hotel in Leeds is certainly for you. La Rosa Hotel, Whitby

boutique hotel in yorkshire

La Rosa Hotel in Whitby is not only an excellent boutique hotel in one of the UK’s most popular seaside towns, but it is also one of the quirkiest hotels in Yorkshire! Housed in an elegant Victorian townhouse and boasting one of the most enviable views in England, La Rosa Hotel is perfect for a romantic coastal break.

Once a favourite haunt of Lewis Carroll, the hotel offers views across Whitby harbour to the famous ruins of Whitby Abbey – thought to be the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Each room is beautifully decorated to represent various aspects of Whitby’s fascinating past. Their La Rosa room is fit for a princess and offers the perfect ambience for honeymooners, Lewis pays homage to the hotel’s most famous guest as it has been designed to look like his study, and Stoker, with its gothic-inspired decor and accessories, offers spectacular views of the abbey. Our favourite, however, has to be Crow’s Nest which is a self-contained apartment with three bedrooms – Peter, Wendy and Captain’s. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the inspiration behind that one!

The Devonshire Arms Hotel, Bolton Abbey

devonshire arms bolton abbey

Built in the early 17th century, The Devonshire Arms Hotel is an incredibly popular luxury hotel in the Yorkshire Dales. With on-site spa facilities, stunning surroundings, superb dining experiences and an exceptional standard of customer service, it’s the most popular luxury hotel for miles.

With classic, deluxe, luxury and superior room types in addition to stunning suites and quaint little cottages, you’re truly spoiled for choice here but the nightly price varies considerably. Whichever accommodation type you choose, the excellent level of service provided remains the same. Last year, their Head Concierge, Andrew Seward, was awarded one of the most acclaimed awards in the hospitality industry – the Golden Keys by Les Clefs d’Or.

As regards to dining, you’ll struggle to find a more luxurious ambience for that romantic evening meal. The Burlington Restaurant is headed by award-winning chef, Paul Leonard, who specialises in seasonal menus using locally-sourced Yorkshire produce. Afternoon Tea at The Devonshire Arms is as popular with locals as it is with guests so you don’t need to be staying here to enjoy a rare taste of luxury. Traditional finger sandwiches and sweet treats made by talented pastry chefs can be enjoyed in the opulently decorated Cocktail Lounge and Conservatory. If a stay at The Devonshire is out of your price range, then Afternoon Tea here will certainly provide you with lasting memories of elegance and indulgence that wouldn’t normally be accessible to most of us.

Manor House Lindley, Huddersfield

boutique hotel in yorkshire

This beautifully restored manor house opened its doors to guests in 2018. It is now a leading boutique restaurant with 11 uniquely designed rooms, offering the very best in comfort and luxury. There are three room categories – Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. As you can imagine, the amount of space and level of luxury alters with each grade. Although, these grades are appropriately named to reflect the fact that just because Gold is worth less than Diamond, it doesn’t mean it isn’t fabulous!

Our favourite room has to be room three (Diamond). This impressive suite covers the whole length of the attic and has a staircase leading from the four poster bedroom, to a stunning private bathroom suite with an elegant roll top bath and an spacious adjoining wet room.

As regards to facilities at Manor House Lindley, you’ll pretty much find everything you need for a relaxing weekend. Not content with just one bar and restaurant for guests, this stylish boutique hotel has three bars and two restaurants, each differing in style. There’s also a great studio and gym in the hotel so you can work out before you wind down!
